It used to be said that most successful entrepreneurs don’t make their first million until they reach 30 however that couldn’t be further from the truth in recent years! In fact some of the entrepreneurs in our top 10 list have made their first billion before 30!
10. Gurbaksh Chahal – 30 Years Old – $300 Million
Gurbaksh Chahal made over $300 million when he sold his advertising companies ClickAgents and BlueLithium. Gurbaksh is now working on his 3rd advertising company RadiumOne hoping to hit the big time once again. Reports say RadiumOne is currently valued at over $200 million.
9. Daniel Ek – 29 Years Old – $310 Million
Daniel Ek is the founder of Spotify. Daniel has been an entrepreneur for some time now though, serving as CEO for bitTorrent giant uTorrent back in 1997 at the tender age of 14! Daniel managed to secure $15 million in funding from Napster co-founder Sean Parker to start Spotify. Spotify is now rumoured to be worth $4 billion.
8. Arash Ferdowsi – 26 Years Old – $400 Million
Arash Ferdowsi is the co-founder of Dropbox. Dropbox started as a college project between co-founders Arash and Drew Houston but has quickly grown into nearly a billion dollar company. Arash the CTO of Dropbox dropped out of college so he could work on Dropbox full time which has grown to over 45 million members in less than 4 years!
7. Kevin Systrom – 27 Years Old – $470 Million
Kevin Systrom is the founder of Instagram! He recently made $400 million after selling his 2 year start-up to Facebook for $1 billion. Being a smart man he has kept a 40% share of Instagram and his net worth has risen a further $70 million since trading started at $38 a share.
6. Drew Houston – 29 Years Old – $600 Million
Drew Houston is the co-founder of Dropbox (co-founded with no.8 on our list Arash Ferdowsi). His net worth is currently estimated at around $600 million.
5. Adam D’Angelo – 27 Years Old – $680 Million
Adam D-Angelo is the former CTO of Facebook. After growing tired of the social network he left to start the popular question and answer website Quora. Although Adam made a lot of money from Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg’s invention he has still raised millions for Quora which is now valued at over $400 million.
4. Chris Hughes – 28 Years Old – $935 Million
Chris Hughes comes in at number 4 on the list with a net worth of $935 million. Chris Hughes is the 4th co-founder of Facebook (you’ll notice a trend occur here in the top 5). He acted as the company’s official spokesperson until 2007. He was also hired as the lead online organizer for Barack Obama’s 2008 presedential campaign! He owns a 1% stake in Facebook which is valued at over $850 million.
3. Eduardo Saverin – 30 Years Old – $2.7 Billion
Another Facebook co-founder… you might recognize the name from the film The Social Network. Eduardo Saverin initially served as CFO of Facebook with a 34.4 percent stake in the company. Disagreements between Mark and Eduardo forced the former CFO to dilute his shares resulting in a lawsuit and settlement that awarded Eduardo a 5% stake in Facebook and co-founder credit. Unlike other Facebook co-founders Eduardo has not been involved in anymore start-ups and reports say he is now living large with his fortune after moving to Singapore to avoid Capital Gains Tax.
2. Dustin Moskovitz – 28 Years Old – $5.1 Billion
Many people assume that Zuckerberg was the youngest billionaire however it’s actually this guy Dustin Moskovitz. He’s another co-founder and former CTO of Facebook. Moskovitz holds a 7.6% stake in Facebook and left to create his own start-up Asana. Asana has already raised $38 million in start-up capital and is now valued at $280 million.
1. Mark Zuckerberg – 28 Years Old – $10.1 Billion
It’s no surprise that this man comes no.1 on our list. Mark Zuckerberg is the co-founder of the worlds most popular social network Facebook which has nearly 1 billion active users. His net worth peaked when the social network went public and due to the share price falling he has recently lost $9 billion however he is still extremely wealth with a net worth of over $10 billion!
